10. The reason that Abraham was treated well in Egypt was--
  a. he had money.
  b. he was revered as a religious leader. NO--Abraham was ninety-nine when he got the full covenant agreement (Genesis 17:1). The Egypt episode (Genesis 12:10-20) occurred after he left Harran at age seventy-five (Genesis 12:5) but while his name was still Abram. This was well before God set him up with the covenant (Genesis 17:1-8).
  c. he was an ancester of Noah. Abraham was indeed a descendent of Noah's son Shem. The lineage is traced in Genesis 11:10-28. However this had nothing to do with his treatment in Eqypt.
  d. the Pharaoh was sleeping with his wife. YES--Abraham's wife, Sarai, was quite a beautiful woman. Pharaoh took her in and treated her as one of his wives. Because of her, Abraham received plenty of gifts (Genesis 12:14-16). In fairness to the Pharaoh it should be pointed out that Abraham did not let on that Sarai was his wife. He said that she was his sister (Genesis 12:13).
