Counting Bridge Hands
How many different bridge hands (sets or 13 cards) are there that have exactly four spades, four hearts, three diamonds and two clubs? This is a typical counting problem discussed in a Discrete Mathematics course. This spreadsheet computes the number of hands and the probabiltty that a randomly dealt hand is exactly a particular distribution. This is a rich source of exam problems for a Discrete Mathematics course.
